Criticism is when someone says something about you or what you did that isn’t very nice. It’s like when you draw a picture and someone tells you they don’t like it, or when you try your best at a game, and someone says you didn’t do well enough.
But guess what? Criticism happens to everyone, even the coolest people you know! It’s just a part of life, like eating breakfast or playing with your friends. You can’t really avoid it unless you stay by yourself all the time and never let anyone see what you do.
Sometimes, criticism can actually be helpful. It’s like when your teacher tells you how to do better on your homework, or when your friend shows you a better way to build a LEGO tower. It might feel a little bit yucky to hear at first, but it can help you learn and grow.
Imagine if you had a big race, and 60 out of 100 people cheered for you, but the other 40 didn’t. That’s kind of like criticism – not everyone is going to like what you do, and that’s okay!
I talked to a really calm person once, and they told me something cool about handling criticism. They said, “When someone says something mean, I try to see if there’s a little bit of truth in what they’re saying. If there is, I learn from it and try to do better next time. But if not, I don’t let it bother me. Sometimes, criticism can help me become even better!”
So, instead of being afraid of criticism, we can try to learn from it and not let it hurt our feelings too much. That way, life will feel a lot less stressful, and we can keep being awesome!
