If you could gather up all the scary thoughts in someone’s head and really look at them, you’d see they’re not helpful at all. In fact, they’re pretty useless! These thoughts get in the way of dreams, hopes, and progress.
Scary thoughts come in different shapes and sizes. Sometimes they seem reasonable, like when you say, “I’m just being careful,” or they’re tied to stuff that happened before, like “I’ve tried that before and it didn’t work.” Other times, they pretend to be realistic, saying things like, “Most people fail, so I better not try.” But no matter what form they take, they all have something in common: they’re reasons why something can’t or shouldn’t happen. They’re like excuses for giving up before you even start.
Scary thoughts always hold you back.
Some people might say that getting rid of scary thoughts is silly or unrealistic. But I’m not saying you should ignore real dangers. I’m talking about the fears that stop you from going after your dreams – like the fear of being laughed at or failing. These fears are like dream stealers, and they’re not helping you at all.
