Recognizing an opportunity
Once upon a time, there was a big library called Alexandria, and one day it caught fire. Almost all the books burned, but one was saved. It wasn’t a fancy book, so a poor man bought it for a few coins. Inside, he found something special – the secret of the “Touchstone”!
This touchstone was a magic pebble that could turn any metal into gold. But there was a catch – the real touchstone felt warm, while regular pebbles were cold.
The man sold his stuff, bought supplies, and went to the seashore to test pebbles. He knew he had to be patient because he might throw away the real touchstone if he didn’t pay attention.
Day after day, he picked up pebbles. If they were cold, he tossed them into the sea. He did this for weeks and months, always hoping to find the warm touchstone.
Then, one day, he felt a warm pebble, but out of habit, he threw it away before realizing what he had done. He had missed the opportunity because he wasn’t paying attention.
Opportunities are like that too. If we’re not careful, we might miss them when they come, or even throw them away without realizing their value. So, always keep your eyes open for opportunities!
