The Trouble with Always Saying “Yes”

Sometimes, we find ourselves saying “yes” to everything, even when we know we shouldn’t. We agree to take on more tasks or help others out, even though we’re already feeling overwhelmed.

The problem with always saying yes is twofold. First, it often leads to feeling stressed, tired, and overworked. There comes a point when we simply have too much on our plates, and it starts to affect our mood and productivity. Saying yes too often can make us feel like victims, resentful of all the things we’ve committed to. And because we feel guilty saying no, we keep piling on more tasks, making the problem worse.

For example, agreeing to help someone when what we really need is a day off for ourselves. Then, when we don’t get the rest we need, we feel even more frustrated and upset.

Ultimately, by always saying yes, we create our own stress and unhappiness. We blame outside forces or think that feeling overwhelmed is just part of life, when in reality, we have the power to set boundaries and say no when necessary.
